UDFC’s Travel Soccer Teams are for the passionate player seeking a more competitive soccer experience than the UDFC Fall League, but still wants to play on a community-based team.

UDFC Travel Teams play the Fall season against teams from other soccer clubs in the region. Additional opportunities exist for teams to continue together for winter, spring and tournament play.

Boys & Girls are eligible for travel teams starting at age 8 (teams are divided by gender and birth year).  As a community-based club, UDFC has had a tradition of parent-coached teams.  We are always looking for parents to step-up and volunteer for their kid's team.  However, we recognize that volunteer coaches are not always possible, in the event a parent-coach is not available we have contingency plans to work with local youth soccer trainer/coaches to staff travel teams where needed (additional coaching fees will apply)

All players (new and returning) must attend player evaluations each Spring.
Assignment to a team is not guaranteed.
Players are selected based on the evaluations conducted by the Travel Program Committee and Team Coaches.
Team placement is determined by the end of May. 
Late additions to teams may be possible, if space is available.  Contact the Travel Coordinator or a specific team coach for more information.

Players are expected to commit to attending practices and games for the entire travel season.
Team practices start in June/July and are typically once or twice a week through the end of the fall season.
Team practice schedules are determined by individual team coaches.
Schedule conflicts (vacations, summer camp, etc.) must be addressed with the team coach.

The fall season runs September (weekend after Labor Day) through mid-November.
The final fall game schedule does not get released until mid-August.
Boys games are usually scheduled for Saturdays. Girls on Sundays.
Home games are played on Upper Darby School District fields.
Away games are played in neighboring communities. Older age groups may play away games at fields up to an hour away.
Both Boys and Girls teams play in  Central League Soccer - with most clubs located in Philadelphia's Western Suburbs. 

New players must purchase a travel uniform (approx $75).
Returning players are required to purchase uniform pieces as necessary to maintain an acceptable travel uniform kit year to year.
Uniforms are purchased directly from our supplier.  A link to the online store will be provided once a player is placed with a team

2024 Tryout Dates

Tryouts for the 2024-25 Travel Soccer Year start the week of April 21

Interested in trying out for a UDFC Soccer Travel Team?  We are actively seeking TRAVEL players in the following birth years: 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, (2015’s are welcome to tryout for the 2014 team). Girls are welcome to tryout for the boys teams. We don’t have any established girls teams at the moment.

If you do not see your child's age group listed above, it means we are lacking a parent coach at that age level. If you are interested in coaching a travel team next fall, then please contact us about potentially adding additional age groups to the tryout schedule.
